We do what we do, day in and day out, and have improved the performance and maintenance of thousands of chimneys in Kentucky and Indiana to make them safer and make sure fireside experiences are memorable for all the right reasons.

Professional chimney cleaning and more in Prospect, KYOne of the biggest threats to that enjoyment and safety is level three glazed creosote, which is a hardened, sticky, odoriferous deposit that occurs when firewood burns incompletely. Causes may include a lack of air supply, unseasoned wood, or cool chimney temperatures. Creosote starts out as a byproduct that’s carried through the smoke up into the flue, where it settles and cools. Each time the fireplace is used, another layer of creosote is deposited, leading to level three glazed creosote that’s impossible to remove with traditional chimney sweeping methods.

Fortunately, there is now a way to remove this damaging, dangerous, malodorous deposit — Poultice Creosote Remover (PCR).

What Does Poultice Creosote Remover (PCR) Do?

PCR works in a unique way that allows us to remove level three glazed creosote from the smoke chamber and the flue tiles or stainless steel liner. Depending on where your glazed creosote is located, we’ll either use a brush, a sprayer, or a specially designed tool that can move from the top of the flue to the bottom to apply the product.

Once it’s applied, it gets right to work absorbing the creosote. As the product dries, it begins to flake and fall off of the flue walls or smoke chamber, taking the creosote down with it. Any residue or deposits left behind can then be easily removed using traditional chimney sweeping techniques.

Remove Creosote with an annual chimney cleaning in Masonic Home & la Grange KYWhy Choose PCR For The Job?

  • Without it, attempting to remove glazed creosote is ineffective and can actually end up damaging your chimney system or exposing you and your family to noxious odors and dangerous chemicals.
  • The product completely eliminates level three glazed creosote, a highly flammable deposit that could easily start a house fire.
  • PCR makes the job relatively easy and quick.
  • The product was designed by ChimneySaver, the leader in chimney protection and a company we’ve come to trust!
