Gas hearth appliances are becoming more and more popular because they are so economical and convenient to use in the winter. Gas fireplaces and stoves provide warmth without a lot of worrying about cost and maintenance. However, if you want to start a fire with a remote control from your couch for winters to come, you need to have your gas hearth appliance serviced every year. This helps ensure there are no problems that could cause it to not work safely and efficiently. All American Chimney Service has been offering professional gas fireplace and stove services to the Louisville area since 2006. Our technicians have been trained and certified by the National Fireplace Institute (NFI) and theChimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA)to properly install, inspect, and repair all types of gas hearth appliances. You can trust us when we tell you that your gas fireplace will work safely this winter. We would like to tell you more about a couple of problems that can happen with gas hearth appliances.

Not Enough Oxygen

One of the most common problems that occur with gas fireplaces is incomplete combustion. The reason this happens is that there is not enough oxygen present. According to the CSIA, 10 cubic feet of air provides enough oxygen to burn one cubic foot of natural gas. If the chimney cannot provide this through the draft, there will not be enough oxygen for combustion.

Too Much Moisture

Another common problem with gas hearth appliances has to do with condensation. Too much moisture in the chimney during the combustion process causes condensation. Condensation leads to problems with the appliance itself. In addition, it can also cause corrosive damage to masonry chimneys as well as to metal chimney components.

Fortunately, All American Chimney Service knows how to combat both of these problems by installing a stainless steel chimney liner to construct a properly sized flue that matches your gas hearth appliance.Contact ustoday to schedule an appointment for your annual professional maintenance service.
