Chimney Maintenance

Now that school is back in session, your life has probably become much busier! Things like taking care of important tasks, going to your kids’ sporting events, and even band concerts. Before you know it, the holidays will be here. As we all know, things will probably be even more hectic with entertaining plans with friends and family. Your fireplace will be a popular spot during the holiday season. Due to this, you want to be sure that your chimney and venting system will be working safely.

The last thing you need to deal with on Thanksgiving is a chimney fire or a carbon monoxide leak. The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommend that homeowners have their chimneysprofessionally swept and inspectedevery year, before lighting the first fire of the season. Since 2006, All American Chimney Service has been providing these professional chimney maintenance services to the residents of Louisville, KY. Now, we would like to tell you our tips on preparing for your annual visit from our CSIA-certified chimney sweeps.

Beat the fall rush!

Make sure your family and friends will be able to relax and have fun in front of your fireplace over the holidays! All American Chimney Service recommends that you make your annual chimney sweeping and inspection appointment with us in the late summer and early fall. By the middle of September, our CSIA-certified chimney sweeps are busy through December. We’re busy taking care of the fireplace and chimney systems across the Louisville area. So, if you wait too long to contact us for an appointment, you may not be able to schedule our visit on the date that works the best for you. You may also have to wait a few weeks before we can visit your home. Scheduling now will guarantee that your fireplace will be ready to use on the first cool night of fall.

Get your home ready for our professional chimney maintenance service visit.

All American Chimney Service wants your chimney sweeping and inspection appointment to go as smoothly as possible. So, lets remind you of a couple of important things you can do before we arrive. To work safely, the fireplace or stove must be completely cool. Therefore, we ask that you not use your appliance 24 hours before our visit. We also ask that you clear the area around your fireplace to give us at least five to six feet of work space. This is because of the size of the equipment we need to use to sweep your chimney. You should remove any breakable and precious items from the room, to make sure they do not get accidentally damaged. We will lay down drop cloths on the floor in front of your hearth. Doing so will protect it from soot, creosote, and other dirt and debris.
