Chimney Liners

One of the most essential components of a chimney is the liner. Local building codes require chimney liners because they serve important functions. For example, they protect the combustible parts of your home from heat transfer and prevent corrosion damage of the bricks and mortar joints of the chimney. Older masonry chimneys most likely have a clay tile liner. Although this type of chimney liner is extremely durable and long-lasting, the clay tiles can become chipped and cracked over the years. Damaged clay tiles can cause your chimney to be unsafe. In the past, repairing a clay tile liner was expensive and time-consuming. Fortunately, a revolutionary product called HeatShield makes this task much easier and affordable. All American Chimney Service is proud to provide professional chimney relining services with HeatShield. We would like to tell you more about this cerfractory flue sealant and its usage.

What exactly is HeatShield?

Developed over 20 years ago in Europe using cerfractory technologies,HeatShieldis a combination of ceramic and refractory coatings that allows chimney professionals to repair and restore clay tile liners without having to take apart the chimney structure. Tested to withstand extremely high temperatures, moisture, and corrosive flue gases, HeatShield is available in three different chimney repair systems: joint repair, resurfacing, and CeCure Sleeve relining.

How do I know which HeatShield repair system is right for my chimney?

Our technicians at All American Chimney Service are trained and certified by HeatShield to use this product professionally. Part of this service includes an inspection of the condition of your clay tile liner. After the inspection, we recommend what type of repair system that is needed to restore the integrity of your chimney. If we only find defective mortar joints, we will recommend the joint repair system. If the clay tiles are chipped and cracked but have not endangered the structural soundness of the flue, we can repair the damaged tiles with the resurfacing system. We will recommend relining your chimney with the HeatShield CeCure Sleeve if we find that the clay tile liner is beyond repairs from these two systems. This system includes a thin ceramic sleeve reinforced with stainless steel fabric. We will sandwich this Sleeve in between two layers of the cerfractory coating. The coating provides further insulation and protection to provide a durable and sound chimney liner.
