Annual Inspection, Chimney Cleaning
One of favorite things about wood-burning fireplace is the sensory experiences it creates. That’s why a lot of homeowners love wood-burning fireplaces. Although you may love the scent of burning wood, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) warns against it. Why you might ask? When you burn a woof fire, the fine particles in wood smoke can cause and worsen respiratory ailments including asthma and bronchitis.
What is more alarming is the fact that those particles can also trigger strokes and heart attacks. Knowing how to reduce the risks of experiencing these risks is very important. If there are people in your household with lung disease, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and other health issues, you need to be even more aware of it all. At All American Chimney Service, we would like to share some recommendations from the EPA to reduce your risks!
Only burn seasoned firewood
When shopping for firewood, you need to always look for wood that have been properly seasoned. Seasoned firewood has been sufficiently dried about six months. They burn longer and hotter, without producing too much smoke and other harmful gases. Burning wet wood only result in an overproduction of smoke, which can invade your living spaces and irritate your respiratory system. At All American Chimney Service, we strongly recommends that you only burn seasoned firewood to reduce the amount of smoke in your home.
